Before I go head over heels talking about the specific details of our trip to Africa, I want to give credit to the people behind most of the arrangements. Basically, we spent the month of September 2014 in Ethiopia, Kenya, and Tanzania. Initially, we planned to travel with Overseas Adventure Travel to Kenya and Tanzania. And we did. But we added so much more. First, I insisted on doing a photo safari. So we signed up on one through Wild Eye, a South African company. Then we decided that while we were “in the neighborhood,” we should visit a colleague of my husband in Ethiopia. Now a coffee exporter, our friend entertained us in Addis Ababa and arranged a tour for us to two historic cities through Tatu Tours. I highly recommend these organizations! Of course, WE had to do lots of arranging to make all sure the dates meshed and we got to our destinations on time. For the next few months, at least, most of my posts will be about things we saw, did, and photographed on the trip.
You may have noticed that there is now a “box” of social media icons on the blog. You can sign up for email notifications of new posts by clicking on the envelope icon and subscribing, and/or you can like and share the blog on Facebook, etc. I’m hoping all this will work. (OK, done with the housekeeping.)

Were we close to the lions?
Wild Eye promised action – and they delivered! But sometimes we had to wait with cameras ready.
